i am overwhelmed by the response to the headbands i am making. so far i have 5 orders, and apparently more to come.
i cannot wait until i move so i can settle down into proper full on sewing mode, and then create my Etsy store for these plus the leggings and other things i create.

The best thing about my new job at The Body Shop is the makeup training. I cannot wait to start doing the paid makeovers. its really fun, i guess its kind of like painting, or art, so thats probably why i find it so enjoyable. and the fact that before every shift i have to create a 'new look' on myself using any of the stores makeup is a bonus also. Some of the new lip sticks that came in yesterday are adorable, very barbie pink.

And THIS, is the best smell in the world.
Time to head home and sew some more bows. :)

after visiting a local store and seeing some similar headbands to these that were MASSIVELY over priced, i decided that i loved them (not enough to pay 120 dollars) and would make some myself:

and this is a sneak preview or hint of what part of the AMAZINNNNG skirt looks like...

so life is quickly becoming quite fantastic.
two new jobs- the body shop and general pants co.
and i have started moving things into my adorable new abode.

spent the day saturday drawing and drinking wine, watching the OC. Something magical happened, and i created 5 designs for items to create for my university portfolio. now i am itching to go fabric shopping and start them! its going to be dangerous., the body shop which i work at is in the same building as Lincraft. i already spend too much time there as it is..

Last night after a failed attempt to make a tutu, i used the scraps of tulle to create an amazing new little skirt. its very carrie bradshaw meets romance was born. on the hanger it doesnt look like much, i plan on busting it out this weekend though so from there i will post a photo. it is definitely my most daring creation so far though.

attended the Lee Gallery/ Monster Children "Roku" exhibition the other night with my wonderful friend Dee, who wore the fringed leggings i made, and i the fringed singlet.
Both were incredible hits, and i now have at least 3 orders for the leggings, and plans to make new variations. I have never been so proud of myself as i was when people told me they were great and a label should be started (for which i now have a name too! )

i best be off, i start one of the new jobs tomorrow and must get all my washing done first so i do not smell bad for the first day!

SO in two weeks time, i will once again be a part of the work force. i have been offered a great job, and may possibly be offered a second, even greater one. either way, soon i will be back earning the dollars which is a wonderful feeling.

in the meantime, i have been hitting opshops hard, with another trip this afternoon in the FREEZING cold Melbourne weather.

yesterday i picked up:
beaded woolen sweater

Violet purple parachute track jacket (was meant to come with track pants too however theyd gone missing)

and these two items were purchased a while ago now, and i adore them yet have trouble finding occasions to actually wear them.

the most amazing mid sleeved blazer, and perfect size. maybe i will bust it out next weekend

beautiful original 1980s dress. fits like a dream, with gorgeous cut out sleeves. think Pretty In Pink. this was meant to be my birthday frock but then i went and bought another.

and finally, i made this the other day:

the gold buttons probably cost more than a skirt from a store. but i adore it. its high waist and so damn cute, i wore it to my job interview today and was asked where i got it from. gotta love that.

new creations:

-fringed leggings.
Once again, my camera skills are lacking, as is a good quality camera.

- Fringed singlet (because it was black on black, the photos didnt really work. so i have spared you them.) but the fringing is right around the neckline, and once i buy more i will add more rows hopefully.

new purchases (chapel street vintage stores and frankston savers. )

- amazing royal blue high waist wide leg slacks.

-adorable little heels

-original 1980's nike air sweater.

- high waist wool/ polyester blend shiny slacks!

ALSO, if anyone wishes me to make them a cute little bow tie, fringed leggings or anything, facebook me.

2 hours and i am off home to Melbourne.
SO excited to return back to my little apartment.
This week with my mother has been so relaxing, and exactly what i needed.
Now back to the real world of joblessness, bill paying and excessive drinking.

NEXT PROJECT- fringing shirts and leggings. wonder how successful this one will be...

new creations- bow tie brooches. (terrible photos!)

it has been a long time since i have posted on this, it has been somewhat abandoned due to no internet access at home anymore.

however alot has been happening in my life that makes it feel worthy of resurrecting. in a nutshell:

- lost my job suddenly, and learnt that its impossible to be a manager without a little bit of evil inserted in your body.
- have decided to go back to uni next year to study fashion design.
- have put my travels to London on hold in order to fulfil this dream.

this blog from now on will no longer speak about my relationships or friendship issues, as i have learnt my lesson and learnt to keep my mouth shut on such issues, and the internet is not the correct forum to discuss personal topics.
instead it will revolve around light hearted subjects, mine and dee's adventures, fashion, and other fun things. hopefully someone out there finds it exciting to read. if not, its here for me at least!

adieu!

I am thinking of taking up knitting. And learning to make beanies.

Or some other craft based hobby.

Or get back into stencilling...

My life has taken an unexpected turn. 'C' is back in my life, which I never thought would happen after how it ended. And it is wonderful. Its still extremely early days, but whatever it is we have is lovely. Sleepovers where we fall asleep snuggled up on the couch. Sharing toothbrushes. Lets see where this takes us, shall we? This time no pressure or stress please.

On a less romantic and gooey note, Moomba festival can suck me off for making me walk yesterday from the Art Centre to Bourke Street with what feels like shin splints, through hundreds of horrible, loud spoilt children. Ergh. And don't get me started on the tacky parade...

I am getting excited about it turning into winter. There is something magical about Melbourne in the colder months, the buildings covered by fog and frost, it makes me a little giddy. And it also gave me an excuse to buy a new leather jacket. >__<

8 days until my birthday and Fashion Week.
All I want for my birthday is cuddles from 'C' and fun times with my friends.

Despite early disappointment, tonight worked out for the best.

Tomorrow will bring work, purchase of fashion week tickets, cleaning, parma restaurant, Jaguar Love/ Straylight Run/ Minus the Bear, then beers and good hangs.

Sleep will make it happen sooner.

If there is one thing that makes me hate/ cringe/ want to vomit more than anything else, it would be twats who wear bluetooth headsets... ugh.
Ever since I was little, whenever I have been really excited or anticipating something, I get hayfever. Its bizarre. It is as if I get myself so worked up, that I cause an allergic reaction to the excitement.

This is going to be happening a lot over the next few months, as there is a lot I am looking forward to:

-my birthday. No, im not actually looking forward to turning the big 2-5. Moreso the parties that will happen that week. 3 fashion week runways with the girls, dressing up fabulous, sipping champagne and looking at gorgeous creations ill never afford. 2 of these runways (one featuring numerous favourite designers of mine) fall RIGHT on my birthday.

Then there's the actual birthday party. That goes without saying. Im not anticipating too much, because of the whole 'birthdays always end up disappointments', so im guessing half the people who said they're coming will not show. But I know I will still have a riot, and get up to a little mischief.

Moving house.
I am going to have a housemate again. Its welcome news, as living by myself for nearly two years has quite frankly made me lose my mind a bit. The cost of the place is severely denting my income too. Ergh!

V FESTIVAL!
I WILL SEE THE GREATEST BAND EVER - THE KILLS- PLAY!

And in the very short term, tomorrow night im looking forward to hitting the night markets. Drinks, good food, good company and great atmosphere. Sweet!

This tram I am on is too crowded, and im about to fall over. Time for the iPod to go on and me to be whisked away to another planet....
I thought I would give this whole 'blog' thing another go. A way to let out those little bits and pieces that are crawling around in my mind.

So far, 2009 has triumphed over 2008, and we are only two months in. That's saying a lot, however in many ways 2008 was the hardest year of my life.

WORK.
Is amazing. I have the job of my dreams. I am still awaiting with baited breath to discover the outcome of my trial promotion, but I have a good feeling about it. I work with an amazing group of people, we are all so different yet mesh together perfectly, despite the obvious frustration here and there.

FRIENDSHIP.
I have been spending my days/ nights off with the same 3 people each week, my 3 favourite people in the world: Elise, Sam, and Nadia. I am so blessed to have met Nadia when I did, she is a breath of fresh air. Even though I have only known her such a short time, she takes up a huge part of my life.
I haven't seen a few people for a while, and don't take it as abandonment, its often a matter of non-syncing schedules and bad timing. I am going to try and change this.

PLAY:
Going out and 'partying' less these days. I am more about one on ones, small groups of casual drinks at bars than going large multiple times a week. The money issue has also forced this, as I am trying my darndest to save this year.
London in October is forcing this along, as well as now a planned trip to Brisbane with Nadia, going home with Elise, finishing my sleeve in may, and moving house in May also. Thank god for the stimulus package, a birthday and then later tax return to help me on my way!

So that's the jist of me right now. This will hopefully become more entertaining over time, I never know what to say in the first post...
